Since ending my coaching sessions with you and the group, I have lost an additional (fluctuating a bit) 10-12 pounds.

I do feel the dieter's mentality slip in from time to time but I know better and use what I have learned and what I know to refocus. I loved my time with you and the group and would consider additional coaching at some point because I do believe it helped in many aspects of my life.

Mantras and Affirmations… I find that most women who come to work with me think repeating a sentence or phrase over and over will help them change their life…almost like a brain washing technique. Or a “if I say enough times I will believe it”
And I know this because I used to do it.
I used to LOVE memes that have mantras, affirmations, inspirational sayings and motivational quotes …it’s like that little kitten poster we all had growing up on our wall that had the adorable little kitten holding on for dear life and it said “just hang in there!” …giving us some spark of inspiration that if we just held on long enough or muttered some words to ourselves IT would happen….whatever “IT” was.

I have seen and personally experienced both sides of how to lose weight…the dieter’s mentality way…sacrifice, beat yourself up and hate yourself skinny… verses my method which involves understanding from a mental standpoint of why you do the things you do or aren’t doing…like losing weight easily. I’ll tell you what my clients tell me is my way is so much more freeing and fun! Yes FUN! You can have fun losing weight. What is your first thought of plateaus?
That you are just stuck in limbo …never to continue to lose weight…you have hit your “set point” and you are done….
In weight loss, a plateau is considered a point at which your body has basically stalled and you are not seeing the results that you want to see….listen in for more.

Let’s dive into The Truth About Weight Loss Over 40
There is this expectation that when you get to a certain age you are supposed to start slowing down.
For instance…When you retire you are expected to live out your golden years in what I imagine …sipping iced tea in a rocking chair on your porch as you watch people go by.
When the kids are off at college and you and your husband are trying to figure out who you are when it is just the two of you…there’s so much more empty space to fill up.
When you start noticing small changes in the way your body looks or feels and you may start to feel a bit like a hypochondriac…oh I felt a pain in my chest I must be having a heart attack.
You may start to feel like it’s a bit harder to do the things you want to do…like ok I am older I’ve raised the kids and now...I am just tired and worn down.
And add in all the crazy that comes with perimenopause…it’s very easy to want to just sit on the couch all day and read a book and drink a very large cup of hot coffee…or vodka!...listen in for more.

I get it…you have been focused on your weight for over 40 years!

Welcome to the Weight Loss for Women Over 40 podcast! I am your host Nikki T.
I have been helping women lose weight since 2002! For about half of that time, using my background as a Personal Trainer and Physical Therapist Assistant, I gave fat-burning workout programs and nutritional meal plans and guidelines to my clients…and they got results! But what I have found is they haven’t kept the weight off…after experimenting on myself 1st (I am my first client) I discovered the missing piece to keeping the weight off for good. It is in the mindset work. When clients come to me they get fast and effective workout plans. I teach them my one rule (which is super flexible) and they get food guidelines where no foods are off limits. But the most life-changing part of working with me is when we get together each week for virtual coaching THIS where we dive into the why behind what you are doing.
